Text Box: 2009, Issue 5 Text Box: June 2009 Text Box: GREATER AUSTIN MALAYALEE ASSOCIATION Text Box: GAMA NEWSLETTER Text Box: The Annual GAMA Picnic, held on May 9th, was blessed with blue summer skies, new faces, exciting games and great food! This year we witnessed leaping bread bobbers and lemon drop champions reign over the fields of the Elizabeth Milburn Park. A little something for everyone, the picnic also included volleyball, charades, antakshari, and a scavenger hunt. Unique to this picnic was the Sweet Delight competition which featured the culinary skills of some of our picnic attendants. (See the next page for images of their beautiful creations.) The face painting table was not just any ordinary face painting table! Attested by children and ladies alike, the captivating artwork by Teresa Joy and Sangeetha Sasi helped ignite the festive spirit of the day. An event like this heavily relies on the community to grill and serve food, conduct games, ensure the safety of our children and much more.
