56 Tournament (Traditional Card Game)
Overview
GAMA is organizing a 56 (Anpathi Aaru) tournament that for the community. Unlike the Carrom tournament which was a one-day event, 56 is planned to be conducted over the course of many weeks.
A popular version of the 56 game will be played where two teams, with 3 members each, will compete. In order to take this event to a more personal level and to give participants an opportunity to have lots of fun, each match will be held at venues chosen by players. As such, participants must indicate in the registration form whether they can host a match. The fixture will be decided based on the number of teams registering. Since there are many variants of the game, and the idea is to have as much fun as possible, players of each match must come to a consensus of the rules and regulations before start of the game. After the match is over, the host will notify GAMA of the outcome. To prevent the stretching of the game into the wee hours of the next day, the "kunukku" method will be replaced by an accumulated points system to decide winners. Details will be announced after the registration period.
Registration
Registration fee is $5 per participant. We encourage you to register as a team. Individual registrants will be accepted, and their teams randomly assigned by the organizing committee. Registration ends on June 20th and the games shall begin on July 1st, 2009.
The winners and runners-up shall be awarded prizes in our next major event. The idea is to have fun, meet new people and make new friends. If you are interested in participating in this fun event please send an email with the following information to the event coordinators Santhan Parameswaran (sanparm@gmail.com) or Suresh Venukuttan (suresh1v@yahoo.com).

Annual Carroms Competition
Tournament Report
GAMA held its first Annual Carrom Tournament on March 21st at the Clay Madsen Recreation Center in Round Rock. We had almost 50 participants with some of the older members of the community leading the way.
Games were divided into 3 categories:
- Men's singles
- Women's singles
- Adult doubles
We had almost 11 games being played in parallel in the morning session when the singles eliminations were conducted. The afternoon session paved way for the doubles matches and the finals for the singles categories. Lunch (Veg and Non-veg Biriyani) was provided for a nominal fee to all participants at the venue. Overall it was a great time for the carrom enthusiasts in our community to spend a fun-filled day together.
